Island Lake woman convicted of stealing from employer
An Island Lake woman was convicted Thursday of stealing about $50,000 from her Elgin-based employer, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.
Erin J. Noffs, 33, of the 3300 block of Charles Circle, worked for the business as office manager. She stole the money between October 2014 and October 2015 by inflating her pay on payroll checks, according to the state's attorney office.
A jury deliberated for a little more than two hours before returning with a guilty verdict on a felony theft charge, the news release said.
Noffs remains free on $3,000 bond.
Her sentencing hearing will be Nov. 16. She faces a sentence of probation or three to seven years in prison, according to the news release.
