No citations in Streamwood car vs bicycle crash

A bicyclist struck by a car late Saturday while attempting to cross Route 59 in Streamwood remained hospitalized Monday, but is expected to survive his injuries, police said.

Streamwood Deputy Police Chief Shawn Taylor said no citations will be issued in connection with the crash, which occurred about 11:46 p.m. Saturday in the intersection of Route 59 (Sutton Road) and Schaumburg Road.

Police say the bicyclist was trying to cross Route 59 from east to west when he was hit by Toyota sedan traveling south on Route 59.

There is no crosswalk or signal where the bicyclist was crossing, police said.

The 43-year-old driver was not injured, and there were no passengers in the car.
