Vernon Hills police offering free gun locks

The Vernon Hills Police Department is partnering with Project Childsafe to offer free gun locks to residents to assist in keeping their firearms safe. The locks can be picked up at the police department records section window, 740 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. The locks are typically available for pick up from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

There is a limit of two locks per household.
