Cubs' pitching plan for Wednesday's DH still under discussion
The Cubs' pitching plan for Wednesday's doubleheader was still a work in progress as of Tuesday evening.
Alec Mills is expected to get one start, likely in Game 1, but manager David Ross said he'd give Mills the choice. The Game 2 starter remained under discussion. Adbert Alzolay probably would have got the call Monday had he not suffered a bruised forearm in South Bend, but he could be an option for Wednesday.
With an off day on Thursday, a bullpen game wasn't out of the question, and maybe bringing in a position player as the extra 29th player on the roster allowed for doubleheaders.
"Adbert's in the mix for that," Ross said before Tuesday's game. "We'll see how today goes and kind of assess afterward. The position player, with KB (Kris Bryant) down, that could be an option we'd consider as well."
