Hernandez off to solid after joining Sox in trade from Indians

It's still early to assess the White Sox's trade acquisitions, but second baseman Cesar Hernandez is already looking like a great fit.

Hitting .320 (8-for-25) in 7 games with the Sox since coming over from the Indians in a July 29 trade, Hernandez homered for the second straight game against the Cubs Saturday.

The switch-hitter already has 20 home runs for the season, a career high.

"It feels good," Hernandez said. "That's the fruit of my work. I've been working very hard to have a good season, to have good results. That's why I'm able to get those 20 homers and have a good season right now."

The Sox desperately needed a second baseman after Nick Madrigal was lost for the season with a torn hamstring. Madrigal was sent to the Cubs on July 30 in the Craig Kimbrel trade.

"I'm very happy with the trade," said Hernandez, who was 2-for-4 with a solo homer Saturday's 4-0 win at Wrigley Field. "I'm very happy to be here because I know I was one of the pieces that the team was missing and I'm happy to contribute and be part of this team."
