Mayfield's 42 puts Burlington Central in title game
Patrick Mayfield scored 42 points Friday in Burlington Central's 85-70 victory over Genoa-Kingston at the Sycamore Thanksgiving tournament.
The Rockets advance to Saturday's championship game at 7:30 p.m. against Dundee-Crown who improved to 3-0 with an 54-42 victory over Belvidere. Mayfield made 10 of 14 free throws, four 3-point baskets and 10 conventional field goals.
Freshman Zac Schmidt added 11 points for the Rockets (3-0) while Josh Raby paced Dundee-Crown with 13 points and Brad Stec scored 11.
St. Edward 50, Harvard 33: St. Edward grabbed a 12-point lead after the first quarter on its way to a 50-33 win over Harvard at the Westminster Christian Thanksgiving Tournament.
David Hill scored 16 points for the Green Wave (3-0), Evan Sajtar and Erik Hill had 8, and Giovanni Gonnella and JP McGuire both scored 7.
St. Charles North 47, Phillips 34: Connor Linke posted a double-double for the North Stars with 10 points and 17 rebounds in a victory at the Rock Island Tournament. Linke also blocked 2 shots. Luke Scheffers had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, and Christian Czerniak added 11 points with three 3-pointers.
Geneva 73, Prairie Ridge 41: The Vikings improved to 3-0 at the Crystal Lake Central Thanksgiving Tournament with four players reaching double figures. Mitch Mascari led with 18 points, Jack McDonald scored 15, Alex Williams had 13 and Kross Garth 12.
