Glenview Connect
The next offering in the Glenview Connect series, which seeks to create a road map for growth for the village, will be a virtual open house from 7-10 p.m. Dec. 17.
Topics to be discussed at this open house include emerging themes based on community feedback, land use opportunities and marketing strategies, and an "image preference survey."
At the last Glenview Connect event, more than 80 community members participated, along with the village board and consultants from CallisonRTKL, a global architecture, planning and design firm. The consultants were looking forward to a community-led effort at this Dec. 17 open house.
To join this remote open house, available through Zoom, visit the Glenview Connect website at www.glenviewconnect.com.
Judy Beck Grants
The deadline is approaching for proposals and applications to the Glenview Park District's inaugural Judy Beck Grant, to honor the longtime Park Board and Village Natural Resources commissioner's environmental legacy.
The Beck Grant awards $5,000 in annual grants to nonprofit groups or individuals with projects focusing on conservation, sustainability, community engagement or youth development.
The application deadline is Dec. 18. Award notifications are expected after Jan. 1, 2021.
For more information on the grants, including application details, visit the landing page of the Glenview Park District, www.glenviewparks.org.
The time is right
Glenview is offering a 25% discount on building permit fees on applications filed by Feb. 26, 2021, for single-family home improvement projects. (For examples see "Altering Your Property" under the Property & Development pull-down menu on the village website, www.glenview.il.us.)
By submitting plans during the winter when building activity is slower, permits can be issued faster and residents can avoid delays that occur during the busier spring and summer months.
For information, call the village of Glenview Development Center at (847) 904-4340.
