McHenry man sentenced to 40 years for killing wife
A McHenry man was sentenced Friday to 40 years in prison for the death of his wife.
Anthony Harrison, 33, had been convicted in September of first-degree murder in the 2016 killing of Laura Harrison.
McHenry County prosecutors said that on June 6, 2016, Harrison called 911 for medical assistance after attempting to take his own life. While on the phone, Harrison told the 911 dispatcher that he had killed his wife inside the house two days earlier.
Officers sent to the house found Harrison, who again stated he had killed his wife.
Officers also found the body of Laura Harrison, who had been stabbed, beaten and strangled.
An investigation revealed that within hours of the murder, Harrison made several purchases in an attempt to conceal or destroy evidence. Prosecutors said it also appeared that Harrison intended to burn down the house with his wife's body inside.
