Wauconda FBLA students shine at 2019 state competition

The 70th Annual FBLA State Conference was held in April. There were 75 Illinois chapters present and more than 1,500 students competing in over 70 different business and career related events.
Wauconda FBLA students made the community and District 118 proud by coming home with the following awards:
• Sonakshi Garr was elected 2019-20 FBLA State President, the first time since 1954 that Wauconda FBLA has had a state president.
• 104 students compete in 60 different events, and 67 of those students came home with Top 10 honors (65 percent).
• 46 students received Top 4 (44 percent), which qualified them for FBLA National Competition this summer in San Antonio, Texas.
• 8 students received first place
• 16 students received second place
• 15 students received third place
• 8 students received fourth place
• The FBLA State Champions were: Graphic Design Team: Morgan Bilancia, Shannon McNutt and Taylor Splingaire; Mobile Application Team: MacieHansen and Abdiel Villarreal; Community Service Project Team: Kelly Poyo, Karly Pikel and Estefany Garcia.
• Second-place winners were: Introduction to Business Presentation Team: Paul Balingit and Lacey Coyne; 3-D Animation Team: Kaylee Bares, Alan Diaz and Taylor Phillips; Banking & Financial Systems Team: Connor Brannick, Ethan Yost and Brett Winkel; American Enterprise Team: Frankie Concialdi, Bridgette Galve and Evelyn Barrios; Business Ethics Team: Alicia Diol and Danielle Vogel; Job Interview: Grace Lewandowski; Intro to Parli Pro Test: Ashleigh Kafka; Impromptu Speaking: Sonakshi Garr.
• Third-place winners were: Business Plan Team: Jessica Chapnick, Patrick Solis and Kaitlyn Jerard; Accounting 1: Anthony Concialdi; Sales Presentation Event: Eeshan Garr; Business Financial Plan Team: Morgan Thompson, Emily Johnson and Emilee Harris; Local Chapter Annual Business Report Team: Grace Lewandowski and Sonakshi Garr; Introduction to Business Communication Test: Kyle McNutt; Electronic Career Portfolio: Carlye Pichman; Public Service Announcement Team: Clark Morgan, Bradley Nolan and Benji Chung.
• Fourth-place winners: Social Media Campaign: Dylan Brannick, Patrick Rutowski and A.J. Silos; Computer Application Test: Allison Brubaker; Economics Test: Nathan Chung; Partnership with Business Team: Kelly Kroegel and Nathan Murdock, Intro to Public Speaking: Emily McGovern.
• Chapter Awards: First Place Outstanding Chapter Award, Third Largest Local Chapter, Gold Seal Merit Award
