Blackhawks announce 3-year deal with top pick Dach
The Blackhawks announced Monday that they have agreed to terms with forward Kirby Dach on a three-year entry-level deal with a $925,000 cap hit.
The Blackhawks selected the 18-year-old in the first round and third overall in last month's NHL Draft. He finished third on the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League with 73 points (25 goals, 48 assists) in 62 regular-season games during the 2018-19 season. He added 5 goals and 3 assists while helping the Blades to the WHL conference semifinals.
The 6-foot-4, 198-pound center led all WHL rookies with 39 assists and finished fourth in rookie scoring with 46 points during the 2017-18 campaign. He had 7 goals during the year. In three seasons with the Blades, Dach had 129 points (38G, 91A) in 133 regular-season games.
A native of St. Albert, Alberta, Dach made his international debut with Canada at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. He finished second on the team in scoring with 7 points (1G, 6A) in five games during the tournament. Dach also helped his country win a gold medal at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, registering 2 goals and 5 helpers.
