Hello Broadway Theatre to host auditions May 6-7

Hello Broadway Theatre Company will hold auditions for "Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr."

Auditions will be held by appointment on Sunday and Monday, May 6-7, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1745 Kaneville Road, Geneva. Callbacks, by invitation, will be held Thursday, May 10.

Auditions are open for ages 5 to 19. It will consist of singing and short cutting from "Be Our Guest". Students interested in being considered for a featured role should prepare an additional song samples from the show found on the "Auditions" page at www.hello-broadway.com. Memorization is not required. All interested students will be cast in the production.

Performances will be July 20-21 at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre. Rehearsals will be held at Faith Lutheran Church beginning June 4 and running Mondays-Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon until tech week. Vacations and conflicts for camps and summer activities are permissible.

Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over 13 years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, "Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr." features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Menken and Tim Rice.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. With the help of his enchanted household, the Beast must learn his lesson soon, or they will be doomed for all eternity.

"Beauty and the Beast Jr." is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.

Hello Broadway Theatre Company is in its fourth season of providing students the opportunity to develop and showcase their unique and individual talents in the performing arts. Hello Broadway strives to build appreciation for the theater by producing family-friendly, well-rehearsed and entertaining productions. Hello Broadway students are taught to give back and actively engage in community outreach by performing at local retirement and convalescent homes.
