Schaumburg Boomers join church to work against hunger locally
Last month, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Schaumburg joined forces with players from the Schaumburg Boomers to address local hunger.
On Aug. 23, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church sponsored a mobile food pantry at the Hanover Township building in Bartlett. Members from the congregation along with Schaumburg Boomers players helped township staff and other volunteers to off load fruits, vegetables, meats and nonperishable food items from the Northern Illinois Food Bank truck.
More than 140 needy families were able to shop around the truck for groceries. Some families started lining up at 5 a.m. for the event.
Participants included Boomers players James Keller, Argenis Aldazoro, Brett Mabry, Mikal Hill, and Mike McClellan.
Prince of Peace offered thanks to the players for supporting this community outreach to help fight hunger locally.
