Blackhawks must make roster move if Crawford plays
If Corey Crawford is able to play against Arizona Thursday, it means the Blackhawks will have to make a move to get their roster under 24 players.
In the short term, forward Luke Johnson figures to be sent to Rockford. After a few days - if there are no setbacks with Crawford - the Hawks will likely place Anton Forsberg on waivers.
"I've tried not to think about it," Forsberg said. "I put in my work. That's what I do every day. Try to shut everything else out."
The Hawks acquired Forsberg in June 2017 in the Artemi Panarin-Brandon Saad deal. Last season, the 6-foot-3, 192-pound Swede went 10-16-4 with a .908 save percentage and 2.97 goals against average.
He has yet to appear in a game this season.
Said coach Joel Quenneville: "I've got to commend him on how well he's practiced and how he's handled it. It's a tough game and it's a tough sport and we've got to make tough decisions as well. We'll see how things play out."
Saad actually in?
Brandon Saad again wore a white jersey at practice Wednesday, which normally signifies a player will be a healthy scratch the next game.
Coach Joel Quenneville said Saad "could play."
Asked if anything is bothering him injury-wise, Saad said he is 100 percent healthy.
