Boys volleyball: Stevenson handles Fremd in two

Stevenson's boys volleyball team improved to 18-7 this spring with a 25-15, 25-16 nonconference sweep against visiting Fremd on Monday.

Grant Maleski led the Patriots with 7 kills while Matt Cliffer added 6 kills.

Setter Haddon Kay had 13 assists and Austin Zhou had 7 digs and 3 aces.

Aaron Peterson had a team-high 5 kills for Fremd (12-7), and Rocco Stella had 4.

Libertyville d. Lakes: Libertyville swept Lakes, 25-18, 25-15.

Drew Fortini, Colin Hawkinson and Brendan Cook all had 5 kills for Libertyville (24-1).

Setter Ryan Hirschel had 16 assists for the Wildcats while Sam Kharasch added 14 digs.

Mark Demaree had 3 blocks.

The Eagles fall to 17-10 on the season.

Matthew Haufe led Lakes with 7 kills and 2 digs.

Mundelein d. Grayslake North: Linden Ewing had 16 kills as Mundelein out-lasted Grayslake North in nonconference action, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19.

Abram Nazario had 22 digs for the Mustangs and setter Steven Miritello had 29 assists.

Marc Rey added 3 blocks.

Carmel d. Rolling Meadows: Carmel got a three-set win over Rolling Meadows in nonconference action, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22.

Jackson Ptasienski had 11 kills while Mike Scott had 4 blocks.

Setter Jack Herron had 29 assists and 11 digs while Sean Wittmann led in digs with 12.
