Schaumburg Public Works Open House set for May 19

Schaumburg residents can learn more about village services next week at the Engineering and Public Works Open House, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at 714 S. Plum Grove Road, Schaumburg.

Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at what skills, tools and equipment are required to maintain the village's infrastructure. The free event will include Touch-A-Truck, equipment displays, informational booths, demonstrations, giveaways, snacks and more.

New this year will be an opportunity to "Load the Loader." The village is partnering with the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry and is asking those attending the open house to bring nonperishable items that can be donated to benefit the community. Items needed most include cereal, juice, baby wipes, boxed dry pasta and rice, boxed or canned potatoes, canned vegetables, soups, pancake mix and syrup, baking products, condiments, paper products, and laundry and dish soap.
