Traffic shifts enacted near Round Lake
Traffic on both Wilson and Nippersink roads near Round Lake has shifted as part of ongoing construction work surrounding their intersection, Lake County transportation officials said Tuesday.
Wilson south of Nippersink has shifted to the east along the newly constructed curb and wall. Eastbound lanes of Nippersink have been shifted north to share a common yellow centerline with westbound lanes.
Pavement removal in the work areas begins this week and the former Nippersink Road eastbound lane will become the location of a new multiuse path.
In coming weeks, contractors will install new storm sewers and continue excavating and grading roadway embankments, weather permitting.
The work is part of a project that includes pavement reconstruction with a new signalized intersection, retaining walls on the northwest and southeast corners, and a shared-use path along south side of Nippersink and east side of Wilson.
