Lafayette plans to replace 80-year-old baseball stadium

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - The city of Lafayette plans to demolish 80-year-old Loeb Stadium and build a multipurpose facility at the same location.
The (Lafayette) Journal & Courier reports (http://on.jconline.com/29DNDrH) that the city has signed an initial agreement to have American Structurepoint design the new stadium. That's the same architecture firm that designed the new stadium in Kokomo.
Mayor Tony Roswarski says he expects the cost to be about $10 million and for it to be completed by 2019. Demolition of the current stadium likely wouldn't begin until after the 2017 Colt World Series.
It's currently the home field for Lafayette Aviators of the Prospect League.
