Search for eagles along Fox River Jan. 12

The annual search for eagles along the Fox River at McHenry Dam and beyond will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12.

As water freezes over, bald eagles congregate near the open water at various dams along rivers. Staff and volunteers from McHenry County Conservation District and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service will lead the search for eagles at dams in McHenry, Algonquin and Carpentersville. Each location will have Audubon birders on hand to answer questions and offer looks through spotting scopes.

Reservations are not required.
