Olympic success brings extra joy to Norge festivities

The gathering for the Norge Ski Jump International Winter Tournament in Fox River Grove is always festive. Yesterday, though, fans, club members and budding young ski jumpers at the 113th edition of the event had something unique to celebrate in the facility's long history: Three Norge Ski Club members are expected to compete next month during the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Teen charged in suspected gang shooting near Palatine High School

An 18-year-old Palatine man is facing charges in connection with what police are labeling a gang-related shooting last week near Palatine High School, authorities said yesterday. Luis Corona is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. Full story.

Vernon Hills man among those injured in 9-vehicle crash

A Vernon Hills man was among those injured in a fatal nine-vehicle pileup Saturday in Chicago's South Loop, state police said. One person died and several more were injured when the driver of a white Mercedes had a medical emergency and caused an "extensive" chain-reaction crash on eastbound I-290 at Wells Street, according to Illinois State Police. Tennessee's Delanie Walker caught two touchdown passes, including an 18-yarder with 1:31 remaining, and the AFC beat the NFC 24-23 in a rain-soaked Pro Bowl yesterday. Oakland's Derek Carr completed 11 of 15 passes for 115 yards and connected with Walker on a skinny post for the winning score. Full story.
