Seek out safe fun along Northbrook's Spooky Trail

Northbrook has a fun treat for those who don't have boo to do on Halloween.

The Halloween Spooky Trail, from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, will offer a guided driving tour of 40 village houses decorated for Halloween.

"We have a fun, safe event for people - they don't even need to leave their car," said Northbrook communications specialist Cheryl Fayne-dePersio.

People can start by picking up maps and glow bracelets from 4-6 p.m. at the Northbrook Public Library, 1201 Cedar Lane. There will also be live music there, and people may also pick up People's Choice Award ballots to determine favorites along the trail.

In the spirit of giving, people are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items or grocery story gift cards to drop off at the library. These donations will help the Northfield Township Food Pantry.

There will be two routes: one with all 40 houses on the Spooky Trail, another with the top 15 decorated houses, as chosen by representatives from the Northbrook Arts Commission.

The trail ends at the Northbrook Park District Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Ave., which will offer goody bags with treats. The event ends at 8 p.m.

Maps are set to be available on the village website by Thursday, Oct. 29. For information, visit northbrook.il.us/spookytrail.
