Glenview to hold lottery for ballot positioning for April 6 election

Lottery drawings will be held next week for ballot positioning of Glenview board trustee and library trustee candidates for the consolidated election of April 6, 2021.

At the close of the filing period on Dec. 21, one candidate had filed for village president, two slates had filed candidates for trustees positions, and three candidates filed for library trustees positions.

Since all filed at the opening hour on the first day of the period, Dec. 14, under Illinois Election Code and Illinois State Board of Elections rules a lottery has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 30 to determine ballot position.

The lottery will be held at the village manager's office at Glenview Village Hall, 2500 E. Lake Ave. The candidates do not have to be there.

The sole candidate for village board president will take the top position on the ballot. A first drawing will determine which slate of trustees will take the next positions, followed by the other slate.

A second lottery will determine position of library board candidates.

Following are candidates who filed:

Village trustee: Paul Brancky, Glenview Next party.

Village trustee: Sheri Latash, Glenview Next.

Village trustee: Cathy Wilson, Glenview Next.

Village president: Mike Jenny, Unite Glenview party.

Village trustee: Gina DeBoni, Unite Glenview.

Village trustee: Tim Doron, Unite Glenview.

Village trustee: Adam Sidoti, Unite Glenview.

Library trustee: Carol Schmitt.

Library trustee: Kathy Davis Vega.

Library trustee: Winifred Clonts.

In other village news, the board of trustees has scheduled a special meeting on the Zoom platform for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29. The meeting will start in open session with public comments before trustees adjourn to a closed session in accordance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act.
