The Cook County medical examiner's office has identified the 78-year-old woman killed in a house fire in Palatine Thursday night.

Hazel J. Keisler's death was determined to be an accident, the result of carbon monoxide toxicity and inhalation of products of combustion in a house fire, according to the medical examiner's report.

Palatine firefighters continue to investigate the cause of the blaze and didn't release any additional information on the fire Friday.

Firefighters and police arrived at the house fire on the 300 block of Slade Street within five minutes of the 911 call about 7:30 p.m. Thursday and were able to rescue Keisler's son, who was treated and released at the scene, Deputy Fire Chief Patrick Gratzianna said.

Keisler was found in the kitchen, he said. Paramedics were unable to revive her.
