Online auction features Mount Prospect items
The Mount Prospect Centennial Commission is sponsoring an online auction for several sought-after commemorative items from the 100th anniversary of Mount Prospect's incorporation in 1917.
Bidding on all of the items will remain active at www.mountprospect100.com until Sunday, Dec. 3, when the winners will be announced at the conclusion of the 30th annual Holiday Housewalk.
Six boxed sets featuring one of the few remaining brass 50th anniversary coins from 1967, a silver coin (encased in plastic) that was struck in 1992 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Mount Prospect, and a limited-edition crystal ornament etched with the centennial logo are being auctioned.
Also available for bid are beautifully matted and framed versions of the three coordinating color 18-by-24 posters of modern Mount Prospect, (the train station at sunset; the French Market with a train in the station; and the rainbow over downtown), which have been available for sale this year. They are being auctioned individually.
These particular posters are special because each has been autographed by Mount Prospect photographer Mike Zarnek.
Bidders who would like to view the posters in person may see them on display in the first floor lobby of the Mount Prospect Public Library, 10 S. Emerson St.
