Thursday's White Sox opener postponed to Friday due to weather forecast
There's a reason why so many off days were added to the first two weeks of the White Sox's schedule.
Last Thursday's season opener at Kansas City was played, but not before rain delayed the start of the game almost two hours.
Rain - and snow - were responsible for a 30-minute delay Saturday in the Sox's second game against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium, which started with a wind chill of 28 degrees.
There were sunny skies for Sunday's final game at K.C., but it was 40 degrees at first pitch.
The White Sox played two more games in frigid temperatures at Cleveland Monday and Wednesday, and they were supposed to play their first game at Guaranteed Rate Field Thursday against Seattle.
With rain and cold weather in the forecast, the home opener has been postponed and rescheduled for Friday, which was originally an off day.
Friday's game against Seattle starts at 1:10 p.m., and the forecast calls for sun and a high near 60.
The White Sox announced all Thursday tickets, mobile or printed, are good for Friday's game.
Parking lots open at 10 a.m. Friday and gates to the ballpark open at 11 a.m. Prepaid parking passes, Stadium Club passes and Patio tickets for Thursday can be used for Friday's rescheduled game. No exchanges are necessary.
The game will still be broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago, WGN-AM 720 and WRTO-AM 1200.
