For this week's #TBT Gallery, we look back 30 years to what our Daily Herald photographers were shooting in August 1987. The biggest news that month was the weather. On Aug. 14, Chicago and the suburbs saw 14 inches of rain in less than a day. Many streets and homes flooded as a result.

Vice President George Bush paid a visit to West Chicago to speak to DuPage County Republicans as he was seeking to be the GOP nominee in the 1988 presidential race.

In sports, the Chicago Bears had a preseason game with players Jim McMahon, Kevin Butler and Walter Payton taking the field. It also was the final full season at Wrigley Field without lights.
