Police end investigation of possible lead in Northbrook cold case

The Northbrook Police Department and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force on Saturday ended their investigation into a possible lead in a missing person case from 1982, officials said.

NORTAF's Forensic Team excavated to a depth of roughly nine feet at a home on the 1400 block of Orchard Lane but found no human remains while looking into the disappearance of Linda Seymour, according to a news release from the Northbrook Police Department.

Seymour's family has been notified that no remains were found. There currently are no other investigative avenues, police said.

Seymour, 35, was last seen in Northbrook around 2:30 p.m. Dec. 21, 1982, according to reports.

Acting on the lead last week, workers moved a shed in the backyard of a house on Orchard Lane. Investigators arrived Tuesday morning and staked out the scene with flags before erecting a tent over the area where the shed had been previously and started digging.

Seymour's son currently lives in the home, according to police.
