Schaumburg requires fingerprinting of carnival workers
Schaumburg now requires that fingerprinting be part of the state-mandated criminal background checks for any carnival employees that may work in the village.
The state law requires carnival operators to conduct background checks on their employees to ensure no sex offenders are hired.
But Schaumburg Police Chief Jim Lamkin recently proposed the added requirement of fingerprinting within 90 days of any carnival in the village to ensure that those background checks are more accurate and up to date.
Village trustees approved Lamkin's recommendation this week.
