Girls volleyball: Big finish lifts Vernon Hills

Junior Zoe Eitel and sophomore Emma Ginster each had 5 kills, and Vernon Hills' girls volleyball team defeated Grayslake North 25-21, 21-25, 25-8 in a nonconference match Wednesday night.

The Cougars brought a "very balanced approach to the court," said first-year coach Arian Colton, who also noted the "solid debut setting outing" of sophomore Maddie Bowen.

Seniors Aleen Lim and Taylor Harte provided solid passing and defense, Colton added. Bowen also served 2 aces.

Grayslake North received 10 digs apiece from Lea Baker and Erin McBriarty. Jessica Pozezinski had 3 kills, and Baker added 3 aces.
