Northbrook car fire under investigation

Northbrook police are investigating a fire that engulfed a car they believe may have been stolen, fire officials said Friday.

The Northbrook Fire Department was called Aug. 28 to 1501 Maple Ave., near Northbrook Junior High and the Northbrook District 28 administration building, where they found a Honda CRV engulfed in flames.

There wasn't anyone near the vehicle and, once the fire was out, crews were able to determine there were no victims inside. There also was no damage to any other vehicles or nearby buildings, according to fire officials.

The matter was then turned over to police. If you have information, call the Northbrook Police Department at (847) 564-2060.
