Girls volleyball: Buffalo Grove starts season with win

Buffalo Grove's girls volleyball team opened its season in Skokie on Monday night and earned a 25-14, 14-25, 25-23 nonconference triumph over host Niles North.

Leading the Bison on attack were Claire Ferris (8 kills, 8 digs) and Lauren Horvath (5 kills).

Kristen Belias and Nina Masciopinto also collected 8 digs apiece while Maggie Streckert handed outs 18 assists from 77 sets.

Alyssa Ramos had a pair of blocks for BG.

• Wheaton Warrenville South topped Hoffman Estates 25-12, 25-9 in another season opener.
