Blackhawks trade Garbutt to Anaheim for Sekac
Despite a 12-game win streak the Chicago Blackhawks tinkered with their roster on Thursday, swapping left wingers with Anaheim and getting a little younger in the process.
The Hawks acquired 23-year-old Jiri Sekac (SEH-katch) from the Ducks in exchange for 30-year-old Ryan Garbutt. The move also provides the Blackhawks with some salary cap relief for next season since Sekac is in the final year of his contract and Garbutt has one more year on his deal after this season.
Garbutt was a minus-7 for the Hawks in 43 games with 6 points tihs season. Sekac, a native of the Czech Republic, was stuck on Anaheim's fourth line and recorded 3 points in 22 games this season.
Garbutt was one of two players the Blackhawks got when they traded Patrick Sharp to the Dallas Stars. The other player in that deal with Dallas, defenseman Trevor Daley, was traded last month to Pittsburgh for Rob Scuderi.
