Wheaton celebrates Ice (Cubed) Festival

Weather's a funny thing, isn't it?

Last weekend, it was so warm that organizers of Wheaton's fourth annual Ice (Cubed) Fest decided to delay things for a week because no one wanted to see the intricately carved ice sculptures melting before their eyes.

On Saturday, temperatures were a little more winterlike and so the fest, sponsored by the Downtown Wheaton Association, could take center stage with more than two dozen ice sculptures on display. Most of the works were crafted by Chicago Ice Works and on exhibit in front of the businesses that commissioned their creation.

Carvers also demonstrated their craft in the Martin Memorial Plaza at Front and Main streets.
