Boys golf: Prospect's Knott wins Elk Grove regional title

Prospect senior Jack Knott shot a 78 to earn medalist honors and help the Knights secure second place as a team Wednesday at the Class 3A Elk Grove boys golf regional at Fox Run.

Knott defeated Maine South freshman Nicholas Dombro in a playoff for the championship.

Maine South, with a 317, won the team title while Prospect was second at 323. Rolling Meadows secured the third and final qualifying spot for Monday's Prospect sectional with a 334.

Also scoring for Prospect were senior Charlie Busch (79), junior Sam Ergastolo (83) and Cole Lannert (83).

Rolling Meadows was led by an 81 from junior John Freiburger. Also counting for the Mustangs were sophomore Luke Duffer (83), junior Chris Cho (84) and senior Charlie Behrens (86).

Conant, which finished fourth with a 339, qualified four individuals for sectional play including senior Nikko Ganas (79), junior Rohan Patel (85), senior Eric Bradley (87), junior Sunny Sivarathri (88) and junior Matt McColaugh (88).

Other individual qualifiers included Elk Grove junior Jason Gamez (83), Schaumburg senior Vince Giglio (84), Maine West senior Luke Rothweiler (84), Hoffman Estates senior Jonathan Lim (88) and Elk Grove senior Ryle Rathman (89).
