Bears kicker Cairo Santos sets team record for consecutive made field goals

CHICAGO - Bears kicker Cairo Santos has entered uncharted waters.

No Bears kicker has ever made as many consecutive field goal tries as Santos. The 29-year-old from Brazil made 3 more field goals in Sunday's 35-16 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field. Santos has now made 27 consecutive field goals. He has not missed a field-goal attempt since Week 3 on Sept. 27.

Santos surpassed Robbie Gould's team record of 26 consecutive makes set during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Gould made his last two field goals in 2005, then made 24 consecutive to start the 2006 season.

On Sunday, Santos made field goals of 30, 27 and 20 yards. He has made 30-of-32 field goal attempts on the season. His 94% field goal percentage is also a team record. Santos finished 3 field goals shy of Gould's team-record 33 made field goals in the 2015 regular season.

Santos remains well shy of the NFL record of 44 consecutive made field goals, set by former Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri in 2015 and 2016.
