Two people dead after car crashes into home in Park Ridge
Two people were killed when a vehicle crashed into a Park Ridge home just after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Oakton Street and Cumberland Avenue, Park Ridge police said.
The two occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are being withheld pending family notification, police said.
The home, on the 900 block of Oakton Street, was empty at the time of the collision.
A preliminary investigation of the crash revealed the car, a 2007 Honda sedan, was seen by witnesses traveling southbound on Cumberland Avenue approaching Oakton Street. The witnesses said the car drove through the intersection and into the home, located on the south side of the intersection, police said.
Oakton Street between Greenwood Road and Prospect Avenue was shut down for several hours while police continued to investigate.
