A 6-year-old boy was in critical condition yesterday after rescuers pulled him from an SUV that crashed into pond near Interstate 88 in Aurora, authorities said. Police said alcohol use was the main factor in the crash and charges are expected today. Full story.
One injured after lightning sparks Hawthorn Woods house fire
A lightning strike sparked a house fire that sent one person to the hospital and displaced a Hawthorn Woods family over the weekend, authorities said. The Lake Zurich Fire Department said the fire started about 7 p.m. Saturday on Newhaven Drive. Firefighters arrived to find fire and smoke in the attic. Full story.
Sea of pink marches in St. Charles cancer walk
Hundreds of people dressed in festive pink outfits and costumes took to the paths around the East Side Sports Complex in St. Charles yesterday to show support for those impacted by breast cancer. The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer drew survivors, caregivers, volunteers and corporate and community members hoping to top the $92,000 raised last year to invest in research and support programs. Search continues for McHenry County man wanted for child assault
McHenry County authorities continue to search for a 26-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a child last week. Esau Ancheyta Hernandez has been a fugitive since Friday, when he fled a home in the 12000 block of Hebron Road near Hebron after being confronted by family members of the child, authorities said. Bears win wild one in OT over Ravens
