Roosevelt Road in Wheaton closed after vehicle hits pedestrian

A person was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in Wheaton, causing a main roadway to be shutdown for several hours, officials said.

Wheaton police were asking drivers to avoid Roosevelt Road (Route 38) between Gables Boulevard and Greenwood Drive, All lanes except a single westbound lane were closed while police investigated the crash, officials said.

The road was expected to be closed for several hours.

"Thank you for your patience over these next few hours as Wheaton PD investigates the scene," city officials said in a Facebook post about 9 p.m.

More information about the crash was not immediately available.
