Wheaton police ask for public's help to find suspect

Wheaton police are asking for the public's help in locating a man who they say evaded arrest Tuesday afternoon outside DuPage Vacuum.

Police arrived at DuPage Vacuum, which is on Roosevelt Road in Wheaton, bout 3 p.m. after a store clerk called to report that workers suspected a customer was trying to use a stolen credit card, Deputy Chief P.J. Youker said.

Youker said police arrived and spoke to the man, but he fled in a car. About 15 minutes later, police found the car near Elm Street and Naperville Road, but the man was gone.

Youker said police have leads on where the man might be, but if anyone saw him go into a house or a different car they should call Detective Bill Cooley at (630) 260-2077.

The man was wearing a dark hoodie, a dark jacket and a Philadelphia Eagles hat.
