Lisle driver charged with DUI in chain-reaction crash
A Lisle woman has been charged with DUI after she caused a chain-reaction crash in Naperville that injured eight people and sent six to the hospital, authorities said.
Naperville police Cmdr. Mike Son said Sara A. Ricker, 49, of the 5300 block of Newport Street, was speeding in a blue Nissan SUV at 5:21 p.m. Tuesday when she struck a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic signal at 75th Street and Naper Boulevard.
The impact caused a chain-reaction crash that involved a total of four vehicles, Son said.
Paramedics took six people from three of the affected vehicles to the hospital with minor injuries, said Jim Kubinski, the Naperville Fire Department's bureau chief of emergency medical services. Two other people suffered minor injuries but declined transportation to the hospital, Kubinski said.
After the crash, Son said, Ricker was charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and driving with no proof of insurance.
