Schaumburg Boomers win sixth straight game

Paul Kronenfeld got the scoring started with a solo home run in the second inning, his fourth of the year.

The Boomers blew it open in the next inning starting with an RBI single from Jordan Dean to score Justin Byrd. Mikal Hill dealt the big blow later in the inning with a bases-clearing, 3-RBI double. Traverse City added one in the sixth and two in the seventh before Dusty Robinson doubled home an insurance run in the bottom of the frame.

Gunnar Kines earned his first win of the season, pitching 6 innings of 1-run, 3-hit baseball.

This winning streak marks Schaumburg's longest winning streak since they won 10 in a row in August 2014.

Chris Robinson extended his reached-base streak to 10 with a single in the third. Mark Nelson reached base for the 15th straight game with a single in the fifth inning. Hill had his first career multi-RBI game with his double in the third.

The Boomers will try to extend their streak Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. with Kagen Hopkins (1-1, 3.37) on the mound facing Dylan Stoops (2-0, 2.19) for Traverse City.
