Person in critical condition after being hit by train in Glenview
A person is hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a train around noon Tuesday at The Glen of North Glenview station.
The Glenview Fire Department responded to the area near the 2300 block of Lehigh Avenue, according to a news release. A person standing on the west side of the tracks near the station had been hit by a train. The person was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
The scene was turned over to Metra Police for investigation. A Metra spokesperson said Amtrak and freight trains were released at around 1 p.m.
The Metra official said no Metra trains were scheduled to be in the area at the time of the incident.
Amtrak train No. 334, originating from Milwaukee with an arrival time in Chicago at 12:29 p.m., had been targeted to depart from the Glenview Amtrak station further south, 1116 Depot St., at 12:01 p.m., according to Metra.
That train does not have a stop at The Glen of North Glenview station, the Metra official said. There is a pedestrian crossing just south of The Glen of North Glenview station.
