Sign up for Hope for Haitians 5K Walk/Run

The Hope for Haitians 5K Walk/Run for Education will be held Saturday, May 20, at the Kane County Government Center, off Route 31 in Geneva.

In Haiti, $125 pays for a whole year of school.

Hope for Haitians raises money to send children to school from the 10 villages they have built so far. Education is the key to a better future for the poorest country of our hemisphere.

It is a fun event! You may walk, or race, starting at 11 a.m.

Cost is $25 ($30 on day of race), and free for children 12 and under.

For kids, there will be face painting and a special race for little ones.

Great food and coffee will be offered from 9:30 a.m. Racers are chipped, and awards are given. Participants get goody bags which include free items, power bars and more.

Hope for Haitians has a mission to build sturdy safe homes for those who currently live in extreme poverty. The villages of about 50 homes each provide solar power, a well, an industry and livestock. They work with Food for the Poor, which has a strong presence in Haiti. The money raised goes directly to building villages and educating the young people. Members of the committee travel to Haiti each year to be sure our funds are being used properly.
