Mount Prospect hires designer to furnish police station
Mount Prospect will work with a familiar face in filling its new police headquarters with furniture.
The village board this week agreed to pay STV, Inc. up to $43,000 for furniture design services. The firm's project director, Dina Tsiolis, is well known to Mount Prospect officials for her work as interiors consultant for renovations at village hall, fire station 13, the emergency operations center and the public works facility.
She also worked on police station projects in Bensenville and Palatine.
The work is a bit more labor intensive than going to Office Max and buying a few tables and chairs, village officials say.
"This project will be the home of 106 police department employees," Public Works Director Sean Dorsey said. "It's a 24/7, 365 operation, so an important interface between the employees in the building and the organization is the furniture that they have to use every day as part of their work that they do, report writing, keeping records, fighting crime."
The scope of work will include design, preparation of a budget, and furniture selection.
