America spoke, but only via ancient system
I must correct Michael Imhof's letter of Nov. 17 in which he declared, "The will of the people was spoken strongly with the Trump victory. The people are not happy with the direction this country is going. America has now spoken."
That is not so because Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by at least one million votes as of Nov. 18. So the people have not spoken strongly for Mr. Trump. Rather, it is the minority represented by the ancient Electoral College that has spoken for Mr. Trump.
So perhaps we can have the majority of the people get together and vote to repeal the Electoral College. Then the will of the people can always govern.
