Glenview seeking volunteer for Development Adjustments Commission
The Village of Glenview is seeking a landscaping professional to volunteer for a vacant position on the Development Adjustments Commission.
The nine-member commission, chaired by Mark Demsky, meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays at Village Hall, 2500 E. Lake Ave.
Topics include site plan changes and signage; architecture, landscaping and lighting designs for existing commercial and multifamily developments; and single-family zoning variation requests. The Dec. 15 meeting, for example, reviewed conditional use permit for The Twisted Trunk furnishings and home decor consignment shop to open a retail store in a warehouse in addition to its current location at 1826 Glenview Road.
Other agenda items included signs and lighting for businesses and a condominium development.
The Development Adjustments Commission often makes recommendations to the village board for final action, but it also makes final determinations on requests for final architecture, landscaping, lighting and signage that complies with board-approved preliminary designs.
Commission members must be Glenview residents. Commissioners are appointed by the village president.
An application and information on the Development Adjustments Commission is available on the village website: glenview.il.us. Select the "Government" tab, then use the drop-down menu under "Boards & Commissions" to find the DAC. For more information, call the village manager's office at (847) 904-4370.
