Girls tennis: Lake Zurich a singular success at Rolling Meadows
Lake Zurich's girls tennis team used an edge in singles play to produce a 5-2 victory over host Rolling Meadows in a nonconference matchup Wednesday.
The Bears had singles wins at No. 1 (Sophia de los Reyes), No. 2 (Sofia Bryuhova) and No. 3 (Anna Biergansi).
The host Mustangs got doubles wins at No. 3 from Esmerelda Bahena/Kylie Differding and at No. 4 from Kaylie Hickey/Annie McGinn.
Lake Zurich's top two tandems were victorious in hard-fought matches.
At No. 1 doubles, Victoria Tchalahova/Laura Zborovsky outlasted Conor Abernethy/Sara Sheridan 6-4, 5-7 (10-5), and at No. 2 the Bears' Jordan Dickson/Lea McCoy prevailed against Yoshie Rabottini/Ana Soto 6-7 (5), 6-4 (10-5).
