Chris Walk Night Out Against Substance Abuse now in its 10th year
The 10th annual Chris Walk Night Out Against Substance Abuse will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Mount St. Mary Park, off Prairie Street, just east of Route 31 in St. Charles. Register now for the 1-mile memorial walk or the Zumba class for $10 or $15 on the day of.
The event is in memory of Chris Foley who died of a heroin overdose on July 15, 2007 in St. Charles.
It is a family friendly event featuring a 1-mile memorial walk, Zumba class by Dance It Off with Kim, a Glowby giant bubble blower, Prism Lights DJ, silent auction, raffles, and more. There will be food from Nate'z Dogz and the Good Humor Man.
The guest speaker will be Mario Arindaeng, a student ministries pastor at Village Bible Church in Sugar Grove.
"Super Woman" from Parties with Character will make a special guest appearance from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m., offering a memorable photo for your child.
Attendees will be creating a string of hearts with pictures and words of love and hope for those who have died or are in recovery.
Learn more about addiction in a fun, family atmosphere. All donations will be used for local substance abuse prevention programs. Members of the organization are currently mentoring at the Kane County Jail and Illinois Youth Center. Its mission is to advocate and be a support for those addicted and their families who are experiencing substance abuse issues. They accomplish this by sharing our story through public speaking, education, media contact, and any other means available.
The main event is the Chris Walk which is held annually in July with the purpose of raising awareness and fundraising.
