For National Poetry Month, Aurora Downtown hosts call for poems
In honor of National Poetry Month this April, Aurora Downtown is hosting a call for poems. The theme is "Rebirth" and poems will be reviewed by the city's poet laureate.
Selected poems will be displayed in various downtown storefronts throughout April. This call is open to any writer currently residing in the Fox Valley region.
Original poems no more than 20 lines in length should be submitted by Tuesday, March 1, to kfc16@sbcglobal.net.
For more information, visit auroradowntown.org.
Each poet may submit one original poem. The poem's theme should be "Rebirth."
Your submission may have been previously published, so long as you retain the copyright.
Your poem should be no more than 20 lines in length, including the space between stanzas.
If you submit a poem in a language other than English, include an English translation.
The deadline for submissions will be 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, no exceptions.
Submit your poem as a Microsoft Word document, attached in an email to kfc16@sbcglobal.net. Do not put your name on the Microsoft Word document. Include your name, current U.S. Postal Service mailing address, phone number and email address in the email.
The poems will be reviewed by a jury for display at a variety of locations in downtown Aurora. The authors will retain the rights to their works and receive no financial compensation. They will be acknowledged in publicity and media releases.
