Bears re-sign QB Bray, P O'Donnell

The Bears intend to keep three quarterbacks on the roster again in 2019, as they announced Wednesday that QB3 Tyler Bray is returning on a one-year deal. Chicago also made official the return of P Pat O'Donnell on a two-year contract, which was first reported Monday.

Bray, 27, followed Coach of the Year Matt Nagy from Kansas City to Chicago last offseason after spending his first five years - all under Nagy - with the Chiefs. He bounced back and forth between the 53 and the practice squad, never appearing in a game last season.

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Bray has only appeared in one NFL game in his first six seasons, the Chiefs' 2017 regular-season finale, when he backed up then-rookie (and current reigning league MVP) Patrick Mahomes.

The former Tennessee Vol was new Bears WR Cordarrelle Patterson's collegiate quarterback, compiling 7,444 yards and 69 touchdowns from 2010-12.

Though Bray is only under contract through 2019, GM Ryan Pace stated at the scouting combine last month that the Bears expect to have QB2 Chase Daniel "for a long time," and Mitch Trubisky remains locked in on a team-friendly contract for at least two more seasons.
