Girls volleyball: Rettig's 11 kills help keep Lakes perfect in NLCC
Kelli Rettig had 11 kills and 14 digs, Devinn Bell dished out 33 assists, and Lakes' girls volleyball team outlasted host Grant 25-16, 22-25, 25-21 on Thursday night to remain undefeated in the Northern Lake County Conference.
Ashley Smith (17 digs) and Paula Ceneac each had 9 kills for the Eagles (23-10, 5-0). Bell (2 aces), Molly Reuland and Emma Martinez each had 3 kills. Lakes' other defensive standouts included Tea Leonora (13 digs) and Allison Stover (7 digs).
Grant's Jazzlyn Linbo tallied 13 kills and 4 blocks. The Bulldogs also received 3 kills and 3 blocks from Anelise Johnson and 29 assists from Grace Olszowka.
Grayslake Central d. Antioch: The visiting Rams spoiled the Sequoits' Senior Night, winning 25-11, 26-24 in Northern Lake County Conference action.
Lexington McKillips had 5 kills and 2 aces for Antioch (20-10, 4-2), while Maiah Moll delivered 14 assists and 2 kills.
Grayslake North d. North Chicago: Casey Hironimus and Ericka Hochstein each had 3 kills, as the visiting Knights won 25-5, 25-7 in Northern Lake County Conference action.
Sarina Low added 2 blocks for Grayslake North (18-10, 4-2), and Abby Cunningham had 7 assists.
Vernon Hills d. Mundelein: Abby Wisniewski totaled 18 assists and 4 aces, and the visiting Cougars won the nonconference match 25-15, 25-15.
Veronica Gawin added 7 kills and 3 blocks for Vernon Hills (15-13). Daniella Jarrell contributed 5 kills.
Mundelein (4-19) received 4 kills apiece from Olivia Cartland and Faith Krabbe.
